After reading The ONE Thing by Gary Keller, I wrote a critical story the other day. I’ve been contemplating it, and I’ve got an addendum.

The basic idea of ONE thing is valuable. Very valuable.

I’ve seen that in the past couple of days since I read the book. It is, in fact, critical to know what the most important task is at any moment and to base your assessment of that on a clear image of your goals.

In the past 24 hours, I’ve been implementing this almost against my will. Asking myself, “what is the thing I can do right now that will move me toward my goals and also take care of some other things at the same time?”

Today, it was sending out a newsletter reminder of a class I’m teaching this weekend and including engaging copy to explain why someone would want to enroll. It was also to develop my final price levels for a new program I’m launching this September.

It was not to write Day 21 and 22 for this Honesty Project. That is no longer a priority for me, because through reading The One Thing, I’ve realized that this 30 day project is not moving me toward my larger goals.
